Business Services Associate - Galashiels

This Business Advisory Associate job in Galashiels is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified accountant with significant business advisory experience gained in a firm of Chartered Accountants, to add real value to a growing practice.  The firm has an enviable reputation for quality and “the personal touch”, and this role of Business Advisory Director will play a crucial part in the growth, development and strategy of the firm.

Reporting to the directors of the firm and working as part of the wider leadership team, the Business Advisory Associate will offer leadership and guidance to more junior staff members, whilst managing and developing a portfolio of clients in diverse areas such as: Agriculture & Farming, Charities, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Property & Construction, Retail, Services plus Startups/Entrepreneurial clients.

As Business Advisory Associate, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Act as a “Client Relationship Manager” for a varied and diverse client portfolio
• Prepare statutory financial statements, corporate tax returns, VAT returns and personal tax returns for final review by a Director
• Identify advisory opportunities and co-ordinate advisory work, initiating discussions with clients and bringing in relevant specialists as required
• Contribute to the general operational and strategic direction of the firm
• Coach, mentor and develop more junior staff members and support them through formal training and examinations as appropriate

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will likely have the following skill-set and career background:

• Fully qualified accountant (most likely CA/ACCA)
• Circa 5 years'+ PQE with demonstrable experience of working in a Business Advisory practice or similar
• A proven track record of managing and developing more junior staff members
• Excellent client management skills
• Well-developed IT skills, particularly around Iris, Xero and Excel
