This Finance Assistant job in Edinburgh with a leading Scottish charity is an ideal opportunity to join the team at an exciting time in its journey as it goes through a period of transformation and change. As a result of an internal transfer to support the implementation of the new finance system, your duties as Finance Assistant will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Processing payments
  • Validating and processing purchase ledger invoices
  • Processing journals, income vouchers and electronic payment forms
  • Preparing journals, reconciliations, invoices and statements
  • Dealing with queries within and outwith the finance function
  • Maintaining databases, sales ledger and credit control
  • Processing financial transactions as per instructions from across the charity

 

To be successful, it is envisaged that you will have previous experience of working within a finance function with strong IT skills - particularly around Excel and spreadsheets. A high standard of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail is taken as read, and you will also possess excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

The role is offered initially for a period of 12 months, though that timeframe may be extended and applications are welcomes from candidates looking for part-time as well as full-time work. Should you be looking for part-time, then a minimum of 20 hours per week would be required. Hybrid working (1-2 days per week in the office) and a pension contribution of up to 14% is on offer with this role.
