This part-time bookkeeper job in Edinburgh with a boutique financial services business is an excellent opportunity for a skilled bookkeeper or suitably experienced finance professional to join a brilliant, supportive team.  This is a flexible opportunity for a capable and organised finance professional who enjoys accurate bookkeeping, has strong attention to detail and is confident using Xero and Excel.

The role will be based on a hybrid working pattern, with at least 1–2 days per week in the Edinburgh office. The position is for 15–20 hours per week, with specific days and hours flexible to suit the successful candidate and the needs of the business.

The Role

Working as part of the Corporate Team, the successful candidate will support day-to-day finance administration and bookkeeping activity, helping to ensure records are accurate, up to date and well organised.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining bookkeeping records using Xero and Excel.
  • Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, payments and journals.
  • Completing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
  • Supporting month-end schedules and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and routine finance reporting where required.
  • Liaising with colleagues to obtain information and resolve finance queries.
  • Maintaining accurate supporting documentation and finance records.
  • Supporting ad hoc finance administration tasks as required.

About You

Candidates can come from any industry background, but must have good practical bookkeeping experience and be comfortable working with both Xero and Microsoft Excel.

You should bring:

  • Strong bookkeeping experience gained in any sector or industry.
  • Confidence using Xero for bookkeeping and financial record keeping.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills, including working with spreadsheets and reconciliations.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • A reliable, organised and professional approach.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
