This Senior Accounts and Payroll Assistant job in Livingston is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished accounts and payroll professional to join a small, friendly team in a value-add role - producing quality management information to support decision making whilst getting to grips with the company's payroll.  The company is a leading engineering business at the forefront of the green revolution with operations across the globe, so this role has an important part to play not just in the company, but in the wider environmental sphere too.

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager you will enjoy a wide and varied workload which will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support the production of monthly management accounts
  • Prepare and post accruals and prepayment journals
  • Post monthly payroll journals
  • Collate and send accurate payroll input data to the payroll provider on a monthly basis, including calculations for overtime, allowances and salary adjustments
  • Work closely with HR and other departments to ensure that payroll data is accurate and up to date
  • Generate and analyse a variety of cost centre reports, including overheads and equipment maintenance
  • Support the preparation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting
  • Post all daily bank transactions into the ERP system and issue daily bank reports

The role is seen as a "developmental" role, so the list of duties and responsibilities will grow as you become more experienced and proficient and could therefore be an ideal platform for someone studying for professional qualifications, or looking to study for professional qualifications.  Alternatively, it may also appeal to a finance assistant with some knowledge and/or experience of payroll looking for a broader role.  Regardless, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work unsupervised on your own initiative.  Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your work as the demands of the business change would be an admirable quality.  Good Excel skills and knowledge of payroll administration would be highly desirable.

The company offers a hybrid working environment (3 days in the office, 2 days from home), plus a suite of other benefits including a generous pension contribution, holiday allowance, and study support (should that be relevant).  The business is on an exciting journey and can offer high quality, interesting and stimulating work in a supportive, friendly environment so if this is of interest, please get in touch at your earliest convenience for an informal, confidential discussion.
